FAQ

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 1, 2009, 9:49 AM
How old are you?
18 years old.

Where do you live?
Bucharest, Romania.

How did you first came up with the idea of taking pictures?
Ever since I was a little kid I was interested in visual arts. I was drawing a lot! My interest shifted from drawing to photography when I was about 13. When I was almost 15 I asked my parents for a DSLR. I got a Canon Rebel XTi as a birthday gift and bought a Canon 7D in 2011.

What lenses do you use?
I mainly use a 50mm f/1.4. I also have a 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 and EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6.

What about lighting?
I usually work with natural light and a reflector.

How do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in songs, experiences, movies I like, fashion magazines, people that surround me or I notice...  I believe anything could be a source of inspiration.

What do you like to photograph?
People, concepts and framed ideas. I prefer to bring my vision to life rather than capture spontaneous photographs.

Styling/Make up/etc?
When needed, it's very important to work with talented people. I usually have an idea of what I want from the shoot and make sure the people I work with are familiar with the concept. A photo shoot is a team work after all, but as a photographer, you have to be able to direct everybody.

What role does hard work play in your photography?
An extremely important one. In order to achieve a specific level you need to work and experiment. And I am still doing that. Trying to work out my potentials and get better. Nothing comes easy, especially in the begging. I save the money I could use to buy anything else for props. And that could usually means props and clothes that I could never use besides my photo shoots (haha).

Do you edit your pictures?
I think every picture needs a touch. One of the reasons I love photography is that there are no limits. You can do everything you want to express something. I do that with my camera and a help from Adobe Photoshop CS5.

How long does it take to edit one photograph?
It really depends. From 30 min to 1 hour, or even longer. But ideas may come in a longer period of time so I don't like to be in a hurry.

Did you take any photography classes?
I was part of a class, but couldn't be there every week. I am more like a self taught.

Do you think you are talented?
I couldn't tell, I would rather call it a blessing, or an inclination for image.

Who are your models?
Friends, professional models or clients.

Can I be your model?
Yes, you can. E-mail me at dimitri.caceaune@gmail.com so we could discuss the details and the rates.

I have a question.. you do shoots, obviously, but what exactly does that entail. do people contact you, and then you get paid for the shoot? and how many of your shoots are paid vs how many are just because. also, have any of your photographs been published in books or magazines?

I'd love to be taken some photos of you, as you are a great artist! All your works are extremely beautiful!
But I'm not living nearby, so I don't hink it'll be ever possible ^^"
What a shame...

But keep on going! I love your photographs! Every single one of them makes me speechless!

So which EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 are you exactly using?

EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III or EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM? And does it have a big difference? ^^;
